Patrons Tips was made to work with these three subscription plugins that are WooCommerce compatible:
- WooCommerce Subscriptions by WooCommerce (paid)
- Subscriptions for WooCommerce by WP Swings (free)
- Flexible Subscriptions by WP Desk (free)
Once you have configured one of these plugins, you can associate it with tiers:
Using our automatic product creation feature
- In your admin panel, go to Patrons Tips > Tiers and click on the tier you want to associate
- In the Settings section, find Products > Monthly and click on ‘Create product’ button.
This will create a product that will be used by all patronage levels: if you add another level using this button, it will be added as a variation of the same product (*). You can then modify the product as needed: any changes made to the product will be reflected across your patronage tiers.
(*) If you’re using the free version of Subscriptions for WooCommerce by WP Swings, it will create single subscription products instead of variations.
Using your own products
Another way to associate your tiers with products is to use your own products. This can be useful if you need to organize your products differently for example.
- In your admin panel, go to Products > Click on “Add New Product” and configure your product
- Go to Patrons Tips > Tiers and click on the tier you want to associate
- In the Settings section, find Products > Monthly
- Search for your subscription product
- Update your tier to save the changes. The price has automatically been updated according to your WooCommerce product price.
Note that only monthly products will work properly with Patrons Tips. If the recurring product associated with your tier is not configured as ‘monthly’, you might experience malfunctions.
Good to know! You can either create as many simple subscription products as you have tiers, or one variable subscription product with as many variations as you have tiers. Both situations will work!
